NHBC Foundation launches commissioning guide

<p><span>The NHBC Foundation has launched a guide to help site managers understand the increasing number of commissioning activities that are needed to ensure a smooth build programme and the delivery of high quality homes.</span></p> <p><i><span>At your services – What to expect during commissioning, </span></i><span>takes in the expanding catalogue of services – for example, solar technologies and whole house ventilation systems – which means site managers will witness an increased range of highly technical procedures for commissioning taking place on their sites, the organisation explained.</span></p> <p><span>Although commissioning must be undertaken by specialists and competent installers, the NHBC Foundation said the guide would help site managers to “engage more closely with the commissioning process”. </span></p> <p><span>In its publication, the NHBC Foundation explains the reasons for the numerous commissioning activities and “how they contribute to long term trouble free operation”. The guide covers services including: water and drainage; gas connection and distribution; ventilation systems and air source (air to water) heat pumps.</span></p> <p><span>NHBC’s chief operating officer Neil Jefferson, in the guide’s foreword, said: “The reality is that many site managers today feel distant from the commissioning checks and balances that are so crucial.”</span></p> <p><span>He added: “Commissioning in general has become much more technical …
