Newland Homes submits plans for low and zero carbon homes

<p><span>Newland Homes has submitted a planning application to create low and zero carbon homes from the transformation of the Daniels Industrial Estate in Stroud, Gloucester.</span></p> <p><span>The Gloucester-based housebuilder is proposing 111 properties in a mix of terraced, semi-detached, detached homes and apartments, all of which will be “equipped with the latest technology to lower carbon emissions”. This includes air source heat pumps and solar panels, with properties orientated to maximise solar gain.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Homes will also be built with “high levels of insulation” and feature provision for electric car charging points.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Newland Homes will also concentrate on protecting and enhancing biodiversity on site, creating two new landscaped spaces for recreational use. It will add new trees and landscaping alongside existing trees around the perimeter of the site to improve biodiversity, as well as to ensure privacy for nearby homes and “create an attractive road frontage”.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Other planned biodiversity measures include the inclusion of water butts to every home, “hedgehog highways” – small holes at the bottom of fences to encourage hedgehogs to roam freely – and bird and bat boxes.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Some of the buildings on the estate, including a B&amp;Q store, will be retained for employment purposes.
