New survey reveals public views on housebuilding

Nearly eight in ten people would support a new housing scheme where the developer was making a contribution<br> to new schools or local health facilities according to a new survey by communications consultancy PPS.<br> <br> The firm interviewed a representative sample of 1,000 people to find out their attitudes to housebuilding, how likely they are to get involved in planning applications and what would make them support or oppose new developments.<br> <br> They found that 86% want to protect greenfield land, but do not distinguish between that and green belt, and 54% would object if they thought a new scheme would affect the value of their property.<br> <br> But 86% said they would support new homes on brownfield land and 68% would support a scheme providing homes that they might want to buy.
