New briefing to help integrate housing in local economic plans

A new briefing paper –Housing and the Economy Integrating Strategies – has been published by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and sponsored by the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) and East Midlands Development Agency (emda). The paper calls for much greater integration of housing with economic planning, especially in a turbulent housing market. The paper urges regional and local bodies to marry up plans for housing development more closely with economic, regeneration and transport strategies in order to maximise economic prosperity. To assist with this, the briefing sets out a framework that can be adopted by housing, planning and economic development professionals and also local councillors, members of the regional development agencies (RDAs) and other partners.<br><br>NEXT KEY DATE: CIH hopes that industry bodies will consider adopting the framework in due course <br>
