Mowlem drops into the red

The construction group, Mowlem, is likely to plunge into the red after writing off debts it believes will not be paid. During a review of its accounts the company discovered problems on debts dating back to 2001. Having issued two profit warnings last year Mowlem are predicting a pre-tax loss of £7.5 million for 2004. They also announced that their finance director Gerald Brown is leaving.
