Miller launches “virtual garden fence”

<p>Miller Homes has launched a “virtual garden fence” aimed at helping build community cohesion on its new schemes across the country. The colourful, “noncorporate” website, <a href='\"http://www.mymillerstreet.co.uk\"'>www.mymillerstreet.co.uk</a> provides home buyers with a raft of information on their neighbourhoods and neighbours, virtual community noticeboards, along with a carbon calculator designed to calculate their household energy use. </p> <p>The site has been rolled out across 18 schemes and is about to go live nationally, giving home owners the chance to input any information they choose about themselves, which will be made available to fellow residents with password-protected access on an interactive plan (pictured). Miller marketing director Philip Hogg said the housebuilder has spent months on the concept, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK or US, investing “more than six figures”in its push to boost neighbourly relations. “We started to think about what makes a sustainable community. This is about social sustainability and customer engagement.
