Miller Homes has appointed Richard Akers, former Redrow chair, as its new chair.
Akers took over from Chris Endsor on January 1 following his retirement. The new chair has made his career in the property and land acquisition sector. He was Redrow’s chair from 2021 until its merger with Barratt which completed in October 2024.
He also spent 20 years with Land Securities and almost ten at Barratt in non-executive director roles.
Akers was also a non-executive director for Unite Group and EMAAR Malls in Dubai. He was also on the advisory board for the Battersea Power Station development.
Akers is currently a senior independent director at Shaftesbury Capital. He takes the reins from Endsor who retires after a 45-year career, more than half of which was spent with Miller. Endsor became the housebuilder’s ceo and latterly its chairman.
