Marcus Jones appointed new housing minister

<p><span>Marcus Jones has been appointed housing minister at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) following <a href="https://www.house-builder.co.uk/news/housing-minister-resigns">the resignation of predecessor Stuart Andrew</a>.</span><span></span></p> <p><span>Jones returns to DLUHC, having previously been minister for local government between 2015 and 2018. Most recently he was a government whip; he was also parliamentary private secretary (PPS) to the financial secretary to the Treasury between 2013 and 2014 and PPS to the secretary of state at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport between 2014 and 2015.</span><span></span></p> <p><span>Before his election in 2010, Jones was leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council. He was also a conveyancing manager for a local firm of solicitors for 11 years.</span><span></span></p> <p><span>Jones is the 12<sup>th</sup> housing minister the Conservative party has appointed since it came to government in 2010.</span></p> <p><span>In a tweet, Jones wrote: “<span>I am pleased to be appointed as a minister of state (minister for housing) in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. </span></span><span></span></p> <p><span>“This is an important and challenging brief and I look forward to giving all my energy and attention to this demanding role.</span>”<span></span></p> <p><span>Jones was appointed at the end of a dramatic week which saw mass minister resignations following No 10’s …
