<p><span>Fiona Fletcher-Smith has become L&Q’s new chief executive, succeeding David Montague who has served 33 years with the housing association.</span></p> <p><span>Fletcher-Smith, who takes the role with immediate effect, was most recently L&Q’s group director of development and sales, amassing much experience with leading large </span><span>development</span><span> </span><span>a</span><span>nd strategic land programmes. These include the 10,800-home Barking Riverside, L&Q’s joint venture with the Greater London Authority (GLA), and a strategic partnership with the Mayor of London to deliver another 20,000 new homes across the capital.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>She also headed L&Q’s expansion outside the </span><span>s</span><span>outh </span><span>e</span><span>ast to the Midlands where more than </span><span>1,400</span><span> </span><span>homes are under construction, and to the </span><span>n</span><span>orth </span><span>e</span><span>ast through the organisation’s acquisition of Trafford Housing Trust. Here, a further 20,000 new homes are planned.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Fletcher-Smith also led efforts to improve the efficiency and diversity of L&Q’s development team.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Prior to L&Q, she was GLA’s executive director for development, enterprise and environment. In this role, she oversaw the delivery and implementation of key strategies including the London Plan and the Economic Development Strategy.
