Lord Bob Kerslake dies

<p>Lord Bob Kerslake, former chief executive of the Homes and Communities Agency, has died at the age of 68.</p> <p>Lord Kerslake passed away on July 1; he had been diagnosed with cancer. From 2008 to 2010 he was the first ceo of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), now Homes England, the government’s housing delivery agency.</p> <p>From the HCA, he moved on to become permanent secretary of the Department for Communities and Local Government, leaving the post in 2015. During this tenure, he was also head of the civil service from 2012 to 2014. </p> <p>He also became a non-executive board member at DCLG and was a member of both the <span>equalities review panel and the national employment panel.</span> He was also made a crossbench life peer in the House of Lords.</p> <p>In 2015, he became chair of <span>King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust</span>. He was also named Baron Kerslake of Endcliffe in the City of Sheffield that year; he had previously been ceo of Sheffield City Council.</p> <p><span>From 2015 to 2021, Lord Kerslake was president of the Local Government Association.
