Lord Barwell to speak at HMI

Lord Gavin Barwell is to address this year’s Housing Market Intelligence conference which is set to take place on October 6 at Savoy Place in London.

Lord Barwell – who was prime minister Theresa May’s chief of staff from June 2017 to July 2019 – will discuss the challenges and opportunities for the industry and what to expect from a new look government. Lord Barwell was also housing minister for a year before becoming chief of staff.

HBF executive chairman Stewart Baseley will provide the HMI audience with a strategic overview of the industry’s challenges and HBF planning director Sam Stafford will assess the planning landscape. McCarthy Stone ceo John Tonkiss will look at innovation in the retirement space, while Barratt group sustainability director Bukky Bird will discuss the green agenda. NHBC ceo Steve Wood will give his view on the new homes sector while Sunday Times economics editor David Smith and Gráinne Gilmore, housing research expert, will look at the market. Nigel Banks, research and innovation director at ilke Homes, will look at the prospects for MMC.
This year’s event will be hosted by business broadcaster Simon Jack.
