London Square and Telford Homes are the latest housebuilders to sign the government’s developer remediation contract, with London Square delivering a strong rebuke to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) for its handling of the matter.
On Tuesday (March 14), levelling up secretary Michael Gove named the two London developers out of 11 that had not signed the contract underlying the government’s building safety pledge on the deadline day of March 13.
In a statement, London Square said it was “deeply disheartening that 30 minutes after the government announced the list of non-compliant developers, including London Square, who had not signed, their legal team conceded to London Square that the agreement needed to be modified, a point we had been making to them for some time.”
London Square expressed its disappointment that “the government's handling of the matter has discredited our excellent track record for building high quality homes and we have had to defend our reputation as a result."
