Lichfields study “debunks landbanking myth” – HBF/LPDF

<p>New research once again debunks the myth that housebuilders are landbanking, supporting previous independent reviews on the subject, according to the Home Builders Federation.</p> <p><span><a href="https://lichfields.uk/content/insights/tracking-progress">Tracking Progress</a>, the second stage of research by planning consultancy Lichfields on permissions and housing need, and commissioned by the HBF and the Land Promoters and Developers Federation (LPDF), also highlights the “flaws” of a yearly report by the Local Government Association, with the latest one from May claiming that there are 1.1 million homes with unimplemented permission, HBF said.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Lichfields' latest report - based on a request for research into how the current pipeline of sites compares with what may be needed to meet the government’s housing ambitions - gives a “deep dive” review of monitoring data to discover the outcome of a number of planning permissions granted in a single base year over a five-year period.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>These permissions were across five case study local planning authorities – Central Bedfordshire, London Borough of Wandsworth, Cheshire East, Colchester and Stratford-on-Avon.
