Lib Dems lambast housing minister over crisis

The Liberal Democrats have criticised Yvette Cooper for failing to acknowledge the scale of the social housing crisis in her morning session at the Labour party conference. <br> <br>Yvette Cooper used her Q&amp;A session to announce a competition for architects and designers to create the prime minister’s ten new eco towns. <br> <br>Liberal Democrat shadow housing minister Paul Holmes said: "Yvette Cooper is guilty of trying to gloss over the housing crisis of her government’s own making. It is national disgrace that millions of people are waiting for social housing, forcing thousands of children to live in cramped and squalid accommodation. <br> <br>"How sustainable is it for almost an entire generation of the world’s fifth largest economy to be priced out of the housing market? Labour’s record on housing is shameful; it is no wonder they did not allow an honest debate at their conference." <br> <br>
