L&G’s retirement business launches rented homes

<p><span>Legal &amp; General’s retirement homes business, Inspired Villages, is now offering homes to rent within its schemes.</span></p> <p><span>The financial services company said that the new rental offer “provides greater choice for residents in order to suit their individual financial circumstances.” Its retirement arm’s move into the rental market is part of Inspired Living’s aim to deliver 50 “later living” communities to a wider demographic of the UK’s over 65s within the next five to ten years, it added.</span></p> <p><span>Inspired Villages’ rented homes now feature in schemes in Warwickshire, Cheshire, West Sussex and Exeter. L&amp;G said its new renters would benefit from a fixed monthly rental rate inclusive of service charges, allowing them access to the facilities of each Inspired Village, including a Clubhouse and wellness suite, library and craft room.</span></p> <p><span>L&amp;G pointed to research by the Centre for Ageing Better, revealing that 414,000 older people now rent a property, up 63% from 254,000 in 2007.</span></p> <p><span>James Cobb, Inspired Villages’ sales and marketing director, said: “We are all about providing great options for our residents in order to suit their individual needs.
