L&G's Guild Living secures third site

<p><span>Guild Living, Legal &amp; General’s urban later living developer, has acquired a site in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, to build its third scheme.</span></p> <p><span>L&amp;G said that subject to planning, the new site, which was bought from British Land, would accommodate around 300 “age appropriate” homes.</span></p> <p><span>In keeping with Guild Living’s aim to break the mould of traditional retirement communities, the town centre scheme, L&amp;G said, would focus on residents’ connectivity, featuring a restaurant and wellness centre, with commercial and retail space and a children’s nursery, all of which will be available to the local community.</span></p> <p><span>New residents will also be able to access local parkland, and a retail and leisure complex opposite the 2.5 acre site.</span></p> <p><span>L&amp;G said that Guild Living, launched in May this year, was “striving to make a real impact on the way we age in UK cities”, combining attractive architecture and interiors with academically-accredited wellness programmes and activities to aid healthy and happy ageing.</span></p> <p><span>The financial services company pointed out the vital role retirement communities can play in tackling loneliness and isolation. “More than 2 million people in England over the age of 75 live alone and more than a million older people say they go for a …
