L&G plans Suburban Build to Rent scheme

<p>Legal &amp; General has submitted a planning application for its first Suburban Build to Rent scheme, which will also bring together its affordable and modular housing platforms in a multi-tenure site.</p> <p><span>If L&amp;G’s planning application for its North Horsham scheme is successful, it will deliver 124 Suburban Build To Rent (SBTR) homes, alongside 97 for social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>L&amp;G said the SBTR development’s focus on lower cost housing for families would meet the need identified in the council’s local plan. This states: </span><span>“</span><span>The cost of housing is high which can make it hard for [families] to stay or move back to the district.” The scheme will feature a “high proportion” of two and three bedroom houses suited to local families.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>The planned development, part of L&amp;G’s 2,750-home masterplan for North Horsham, West Sussex, will also deploy modern methods of construction to accelerate the scheme’s construction, it said.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>And, with its commitment to deliver housing that is operationally net zero carbon from 2030, L&amp;G is aiming for the scheme to be one of the first EPC A-rated SBTR and affordable schemes in the UK.
