Lead – securing the nation's homes

Lead has been used for centuries in construction, but it is as relevant today as it has ever been, according to the Lead Sheet Association (LSA). It says that rolled lead sheet is a contemporary material that compares favourably with other building materials when measured by modern criteria, attracting excellent ratings in environmental performance and fire testing. <br> <br> Lead has recently received a BRE Green Guide rating of A and A+ playing well into the sustainability agenda, and can help developers with their BREEAM points on new developments, LSA explains.<br> <br> Alongside its longevity and lifetime costings, lead is a good material to consider particularly as it offers peace of mind against water ingress which is one of the most common types of claims received by the NHBC, LSA says.
