Land key to Barratt volume growth

<p> </p> <p>As the strong housing market continues, Barratt says the extent of its new home volume growth will depend on its ability to continue to secure land that meets its minimum hurdle rates. The firm expects to approve approximately 21,000 plots in 2014 against 18,536 in 2013.</p> <p>The firm said it will focus on driving optimum output from its existing 27 regions.</p> <p>In an interim statement to the City covering the period from January 1 2014 to May 4 2014, the firm said that strong sales continue with 0.77 private reservations per active site per week, up from 0.68 last year, and with net private reservations up 24.6% at 0.71 per active site per week.</p> <p>Total forward sales as at May 4 were up 46.5% to £1.922.9 million.</p> <p>Barratt ceo Mark Clare said: "Our focus is now on FY15, and by June we expect to have secured more than 25% of our FY15 private sales, with planning now in place for 98% of our total FY15 completions."</p> <p> </p>
