Laing O'Rourke launches private housing arm

Laing O'Rourke, the contactor building Terminal Five at Heathrow Airport, has launched a private sector housing arm. The firm, called explo're living, will be run by former Barratt Eastern Counties md Karl Pickering under the chairmanship of ex Laing Homes boss Paul Healey. Healey was brought in to Laing O'Rourke last autumn to devise the firm's housing strategy. Laing O'Rourke has been a contractor in the sector for some years, but has recently increased its profile, not least when its project manager Gillian Jenkins became the first female Supreme Award winner at this year's NHBC Pride in the Job competition.
