Laing Homes not for sale says chief

Laing has denied rumours that it is to sell its homes division following the sale of its construction arm to O'Rourke.<p></p><p> A statement by the company has been issued to &amp;"firmly quash&amp;" reports that the firm was for sale. These reports stemmed from a UBS Warburg research note which said a sale was on the cards and the business would be worth £300 to £350 million. </p><p>But Laing Homes chief executive Steve Lidgate said: &amp;"The sale of Laing Homes is not on the group's agenda. No offers for Laing Homes are being sought or encouraged and we are not talking to anyone about the sale of the company.</p><p> &amp;"A statement has been issued to the Stock Exchange to confirm this. Speculation about Laing Homes is inaccurate. As a housebuilder we are in a strong position and focused on continuing to build a portfolio of premium brands. We will not be distracted from this.&amp;" </p><p>Lidgate also issued a statement to staff stressing that Laing was a success story and one of the few brands that customers were willing to pay a premium for. </p><p>Meanwhile Laing has almost completed the sale of its US housing arm for £30 million.
