Kingspan Kooltherm for world’s tallest modern timber residence

A nine storey residential building in Hackney, said to be the world’s tallest modern timber residence, is the latest prestige project to benefit from premium performance insulation from Kingspan.<br> <br> The £3 million Stadthaus apartment block on Murray Grove, Hackney, designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects and developed by Telford Homes, uses a cross-laminated wood-panelling system from KLH UK for its entire load-bearing structure – a unique approach that is being added to the UK Building Regulations in annexe form. <br> <br> Kingspan Kooltherm K15 is unaffected by air infiltration, is resistant to water penetration, and also achieves an A+ Summary 2008 Green Guide Rating. Kooltherm’s very low thermal conductivity allowed the Stadthaus to use a mere 70mm and still achieve a U-value of 0.27. The boards also meet the requirements of relevant fire regulations.<br> <br>
