Innovations Awards 2006 Winners

<p>Barratt Developments went home with an armful of trophies at this year’s Housebuilding Innovation Awards 2006, an event celebrating ingenuity and innovation in the industry.</p> <p>David Pretty, who collected the awards just days after leaving his long-held post as Barratt’s chief executive, hailed the triumph as “recognition of our investment in new ideas, technologies and materials that will ultimately improve the homes we build.”</p> <p>Barratt won three awards before walking off with the Innovator of the Year in the large sized housebuilder category. These included the Environment Award for its EcoSmart Village in Lancashire and the Community Consultation award for its Dettingen Park development in Deepcut, Surrey. Barratt won the latter accolade for working closely with the Deepcut community and building a barn to house a local bat colony.</p> <p>Haslam Homes scooped the Innovator of the Year award in the small to medium sized housebuilder category at the DCLG-endorsed awards, having been shortlisted in four categories and winning two. Other winners included Persimmon, Berkeley, Midas, Crest Nicholson and David Wilson Homes.</p>
