Industry leaders donate to domestic abuse campaign

<p><span>Barratt and other leading industry figures have shown their support for a campaign raising funds for domestic abuse survivors, with donations potentially helping a live chat service continue into 2021.</span></p><p>London City Voices choir has launched the appeal, under the banner <b>#homeshouldbeahaven, </b>with 276 members of the non-audition community choir marking its start by releasing a video of them singing Carole King’s song, “You’ve Got a Friend”.</p> <p><span>Donations are going to Women’s Aid, a national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children, with volume housebuilder Barratt, Savills, Rightmove and construction company Multiplex generously donating to bring the current fundraising total to almost £31,000.</span></p> <p><span>This, combined with money raised in an earlier fundraising campaign through the choir’s friends, family and the general public, takes the total to £73,000.</span></p> <p>London City Voices said it hoped to continue to attract corporate donations for <b>#homeshouldbeahaven</b> “from players across the property and construction sectors”.</p> <p><span>A Women’s Aid survey, conducted in April 2020, revealed that more than two thirds of respondents had seen domestic abuse escalating under the UK lockdown, with 72% saying that their abuser had more control over them since the pandemic began.</span></p> <p><span>Meanwhile, London City Voices said that demand for the …
