<p>Modular housebuilder ilke Homes is up for sale after suffering the effects of “volatile macro-economic conditions and issues with the planning system”.</p> <p><span>The North Yorkshire-based business, which has stopped production while it undertakes a “strategic review”, said that a sale would enable it deliver its 4,200-home pipeline.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Without a new investor, it stated that it would be unable to produce “much-needed” housing, with its £1 billion order book mainly consisting of affordable homes.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>In its statement released today (June 12), ilke said that alongside its advisers it had been exploring “fundraising options”. Its existing backers were “hopeful of securing a future for the business via a sale or investment” to also give its workforce certainty.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>ilke, whose homes are “zero carbon in operation and well-designed”, cited UK housing market conditions for its difficulties, with “rapidly rising interest rates” reducing homes demand and uncertain planning policy and rising build costs affecting the number of planning applications, “highlighting the scale of the challenge in improving housing delivery”.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>ilke was established five years ago, delivering modular homes from its 250,000 sq ft factory in Knaresborough.
