Housing developers missing a trick with low PV provision

Some housing developers are now including PV (photovoltaics) in their designs driven by the need to reach ode levels. But they are usually installing the minimum amount of over roof system to comply with these requirements, claims solar panel manufacturer GB-Sol. The company's account manager Ray Paice (pictured) suggests: "Some developers are missing an opportunity to add value to their homes by not maximising what can be installed which would also offer a significant benefit to their customers. We are often asked by developers for the minimum amount they need to meet the regulations –sometimes as little as 1kW or even less. <br> <br> "If the developer is worried about adding cost, the systems could be offered as a minimum with the purchaser given the option to maximise the feed-in tariff benefit by increasing the array size, much as they may do with other options builders offer such as kitchens, carpets or curtains."<br> <br> "If developers are willing to cut costs by installing the minimum bolt-on PV, but still insist on allowing extensive choice for flooring or kitchen style for example, how is the solar industry ever going to progress beyond retro fit bolt-on systems?"<br> <br> "The answer most likely …
