Housing demand slips as economic fears hit buyers

<p>Growing concern over the economy and the state of household finances is resulting in an ongoing drop in demand for housing according to Hometrack's latest survey.</p> <p>Demand in October fell for the third consecutive month, this time by 0.2%, while supply continues to increase. This demand/supply balance is shifting and points to an acceleration in price falls in the months ahead, says Hometrack.</p> <p>Average house prices fell 0.2% in October, with London remaining static after seven months on the rise and above average falls in the West Midlands (-0.6%), the East Midlands (-0.4%) and the North East (-0.4%).</p>
