Housebuilders launch site management scheme for women

<p><span>The Home Builders Federation and not-for-profit organisation Women into Construction have produced a nationwide employment programme designed to attract more women into site management.</span></p><p><span>Working with housebuilders Barratt Developments, Bellway Homes, Cala Homes, the Hill Group, Keepmoat, Persimmon Homes, Redrow, St Modwen and Vistry Group, the two organisations hope to help address the gender imbalance in the construction workforce which, they said, currently amounts to only 16% female representation.</span></p><p><span>The project aims to tempt women into site management roles by offering a funded programme which will also provide childcare support and help with training costs, creating a more accessible opportunity, the companies said.</span></p><p><span>The employment scheme will include site visits – both in central locations and online – a week of online insight and development sessions including Q&amp;A sessions with site managers and employers, a two-week site work placement and one-on-one coaching and support from Women into Construction.
