Housebuilders fare well on design awards shortlist

June 1, 2012
The 2012 Housing Design Awards have shortlisted 26 schemes by housebuilders. The shortlist includes house types by Crest Nicholson, Countryside Properties, Barratt, Taylor Wimpey, Higgins Homes, Hopkins Homes and Larkfleet Homes among those chosen. Several schemes this year revisit and update proven design concepts such as the Georgian block structure and Garden City landscaping – as in Larkfleet Homes' The Croft in Bourne, pictured right. This will be the theme of a short seminar called Evolution in the Town and Country in the British Museum on June 20 immediately before the awards ceremony.

The seminar and Awards are organised by Design for Homes for CLG/Dept of Health, HCA and GLA, and supported by HBF and NHBC, and the three major professional institutions.
