Hope for Parts L and E combination

The government is considering bringing both thermal and acoustic Building Regulations together in one handbook, according to Building Regulations minister Phil Hope. Speaking at the launch of Robust Details Ltd (RDL), the company charged with approving and managing the industry's use of established "robust" constructions for sound insulation (Part E), Hope hinted that RD Ltd could have a growing role. "In the future, maybe other roles for RDL will emerge from reviews of other Building Regulations. I think the industry would like Part L (thermal) and E (acoustic) brought together in the same handbook, and some discussions on this have taken place."
