Homes England focuses on “more place-based” approach

<p>Homes England has published its next five-year Strategic Plan, with the organisation stating its intention to work in a “more place-based way” and “ever more closely” with local leaders and other partners to create communities.</p> <p>The plan, which, the agency said, detailed how it would deliver “more good quality, affordable homes” as well as regenerate towns and cities across England, features a commitment to tailor Homes England’s powers, funding, expertise and technical capacity “to the specific challenges faced in different parts of England”. </p> <p>This move to a more place-based approach, the organisation said, would build upon the organisation’s strategic place partnership with Greater Manchester and other partnerships in the pipeline, including in the West Midlands.</p> <p>This is part of Homes England’s “revitalised mission”, consisting of five objectives:</p> <ul> <li>Support the creation of vibrant and successful places “that people can be proud of”, with the housing and regeneration agency working with local leaders and other partners “to deliver housing-led mixed-use regeneration with a brownfield-first approach”</li> <li>Enable the creation of “the homes people need”, intervening “where necessary” to ensure places have enough homes of the right type and tenure</li> <li>Build a housing and regeneration sector “that works for everyone, driving diversification, …
