Home owners need help with energy kit

Housebuilders are installing a range of low and zero carbon technologies (LZC) in new homes, but some occupiers are reducing their performance, according to new research from the NHBC Foundation.<br> <br> The report – A survey of low and zero carbon technologies in new housing, builds upon the survey into housebuilder and home owner attitudes to zero carbon homes released in February.<br> <br> The latest research found that housebuilders mainly rely upon one or two LZC technologies, with solar thermal and solar PV being the most commonly used.<br> <br> But it was also revealed that home owners are not being supplied with adequate information on the benefits or day-to-day operation of the technologies in their homes. NHBC said that there was evidence of occupiers "working around the controls to suit their own lifestyle," compromising performance.<br> <br> The report is available at www.nhbcfoundation.org
