<p>The Hill Group has acquired Fusion Steel Framing Limited in a move to further enhance its “capacity and capability” within modern methods of construction (MMC) and offsite fabrication, it said today (July 12).</p> <p>Hill has purchased the structural light steel frame manufacturing company, with an 80,000 sq ft advanced manufacturing facility in Northampton, to strength its investment in innovative building. The adds to Hill’s partnership with Volumetric Modular which constructs its SoloHaus modular homes as part of its <a href="https://www.house-builder.co.uk/news/hill-donates-first-foundation-200-homes/">Foundation 200 project to house the homeless</a>, as well as bathroom pods and prefabricated utility cupboards.</p> <p>Under Hill’s direction, Fusion Steel Framing will design, manufacture and install structural light steel framing technology in mid-rise apartments, student accommodation and hotels. The manufacturing operation will involve capital intensive roll-forming and assembly of light steel frames using lean manufacturing procedures and processes.</p> <p>Hill said the facility would also be able to provide structural kits for volumetric modules, bathroom/shower pods and prefabricated utility cupboards, “offering the opportunity for fully integrated structures”.</p> <p>The housebuilder added that its investment in the production process would “ensure a high degree of futureproofing in modern methods of construction through developing and prototyping the very latest offsite manufacturing technology”. </p> <p>Hill’s …
