HBF survey shows “Instagram effect” on homes

<p><span>One in five British home owners have spent time cleaning a room in their home in order to take the “perfect photo” for social media, according to a new survey released by the Home Builders Federation, launched as part of <a href="http://www.new-homes.co.uk/new-homes-week/?utm_source=Press%20release&amp;utm_medium=Press%20release&amp;utm_campaign=New%20Homes%20Week%20launch%202">New Homes Week Unlocked</a>.</span></p><p><span>With much time spent at home over the past few months, 38% say they will not take photos inside their home if it is not “photo ready”. Meanwhile, 23% of respondents aged 25-34 turn to social media for “home inspiration” every day, compared to 14% of those aged 45-54, the research revealed.</span></p> <p><span>Sixteen percent of buyers are presently not happy with the way their home is decorated, with 18% saying they would be prepared to spend more than £10,000 annually on home decorating “to make it look picture perfect”. </span></p> <p><span>And 30% of 25-34 year olds are more likely to update their Instagram followers about a home move if the home is a new build property rather than a second hand home, the survey showed. </span></p> <p><span>The research also revealed what new home buyers intended to do with the savings made from the recently announced stamp duty holiday, with 44% opting to put the savings away …
