The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has opened the sixth cohort of its Women into Home Building programme and expanded the initiative.
There are 38 placements available on the Spring 2025 programme, which, as previously, will see successful candidates receive training as trainee site managers to address the sector’s gender imbalance and help tackle the industry’s skills shortage.
HBF said the latest cohort marked a “significant” expansion from previous years, with an increase in placements and 11 housebuilders now participating in the initiative, providing work placements across England, Wales and Scotland.
Those companies involved are Anwyl Homes, Bargate Homes, Bellway, Gleeson, Hill Group, Hopkins Homes, Keepmoat, Places for People, Taylor Wimpey, Tilia Homes and Vistry Group.
The programme’s previous intake saw the highest number of applicants, HBF said. Since launching in January 2023, Women into Home Building has supported 92 participants through training and work experience. It has helped 26 candidates into employment within housebuilding.
Through the fully funded programme, candidates will receive training, industry insight and practical experience. This will be the first cohort in association with HBF’s new delivery partner, Pathway CTM.
