Neil Jefferson, managing director of the Home Builders Federation, will become the home building industry trade body’s chief executive from July 1.
Upon Jefferson’s promotion, Stewart Baseley, HBF’s executive chairman since 2006, will step back from executive duties to become chairman.
HBF said these changes would provide continuity for the organisation at senior level as it looks towards beginning its relationship with a new government “and address the many challenges and barriers to delivery that the industry currently faces”.
These moves at senior level are part of a long-planned succession process which included the promotion of David O’Leary and Steve Turner to executive directors last year.
Stewart Baseley said: “I am delighted that the board has promoted Neil to be the new chief executive of HBF. I firmly believe he is the right person to lead the organisation for many years to come, and that now is the best time to make the transition such that HBF can best serve its members.
