<b><b>The Green Leaf Housing Awards 2000 were presented last month. HouseBuilder reports on the winners and the developments making best use of our natural environment</b></b><br><b>Perennial winner Redrow Homes has scooped two special accolades in this year's<b> Green Leaf Award</b>s. The firm's Yorkshire region won the Civic Trust award, for its Prince Wood scheme near Huddersfield which was adjudged to have used its surroundings to best effect. Redrow Northern took the Tree Council award for the best use of trees on its development Northrop Country Park near Mold. </b><br><b>Special awards also went to Wilcon and English Courtyards Association. Wilcon won the English Partnerships Award for the best brownfield scheme at Green Park in South Yorkshire while English Courtyards took the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust award for the best use of water on a scheme for its site at ChristÕs Hospital In West Sussex. </b><br><b>In all more than 40 developments built by 17 companies achieved Green Leaf standard this year. Commenting on the awards, chairman of judges Chris Baines said:&amp;"Much is made of the 'threat' new homes pose, particularly for those who see green fields as no-go areas.
