GTC energises major development in Gloucester

GTC has energised the first of five electric substations which will ultimately serve the development of 1,750 homes at a new village near Gloucester. A nationwide provider of utility infrastructure to the new build market, GTC worked closely with Crest Nicholson to meet its requirements and timescales to deliver gas and electricity infrastructure for this prominent development to allow show houses to be opened on schedule. <br> <br> The village, Hunts Grove, will include traditional family homes and a range of local amenities, including a supermarket and school. Clive Linsdell, md at GTC, says: “The sheer size of the Hunts Grove development means that the programme has to be managed incredibly carefully. GTC’s advantage is in being able to meet the client’s timescales throughout the project by using our experience of working successfully with housebuilders on developments of this type.” <br> <br> The project requires GTC to lay 13,000 kilometres of gas mains, 21,000 kilometres of electricity cables onsite, install a gas governor and construct five electric substations. GTC worked with the local incumbent regarding offsite reinforcement work, which was required to bring capacity to the site.
