<b>Savills sales</b><br>The word is that dapper dresser Dominic Grace is preparing for his finest hour in command of Savills New Homes division. A descendent of the world&amp;’s most famous cricketer, Grace has been doing interesting sums lately on the back of his envelope and is about to announce that Savills will sell &amp;£1billion worth of new homes during 2002.<p></p><p>Knight Frank, say my spies, will come in around &amp;£600m, and the rest - including Bradford &amp;&amp; Bingley, Countrywide and Hamptons - some way behind. Not many people know another statistic proudly quoted to me by a B&amp;&amp;B lady the other day: it claims to sell more &amp;£1m homes in Britain than any of its rivals.</p><p><b>Laing lament</b><br>The Financial Times is hardly renowned for a wicked sense of humour, but I had to smile on the morning after George Wimpey announced that it had bagged Laing Homes for &amp;£297m.</p><p>The Laing Group now has cash aplenty in the bank for a bold new future as a PFI player of substance.
