<b></b><b>Fanning the flames</b><br> Battles between the timber frame and brick-and-block battalions of the housebuilding industry are usually bloody and expensive affairs - squadrons of PR men sent into front-line air strikes, press releases by the lorryload and lunches around town to politely point out that the opposition might have problems proving their parenthood. <p></p><p>Who would have predicted, therefore, that the latest spat between sworn enemies could arrive free, gratis and for nothing? It's merely a by-product of the great restructuring of the industry. </p><p>Persimmon's takeover of Beazer sparked instant speculation about the future of BeazerÕs timber frame division. But The Financial Times - no doubt totally unprompted - helpfully added paraffin to the flickering embers by comparing annual results from Redrow and Wilcon in the same story. </p><p>Oozing unhealthy scepticism, the Pink'Un urbanely observed that &amp;"timber frame forms part of a wide-ranging 'reinvention' of Wilcon&amp;".
