Government-backed design seminars kick off

Sept. 24, 2003
A season of government-backed seminars on best practice home designs by volume housebuilders kicks off on in October. The Building for Life events are aimed at those who will be involved in delivering the Sustainable Communities Plan’s 200,000 new homes: one will be held in each of the designated growth areas. “Some of the largest housebuilders are using leading architects and urban planners. Anyone with a responsibility for delivering housing in the growth areas should attend the seminars to see what can be achieved when we commit to design quality,” said head of Building for Life, Alex Ely. Building for Life, an initiative of the House Builders Federation, CABE and the Civic Trust, aims to promote good design practice in housing. It will be holding seminars on the following dates: October 2: Thames Gateway – Greenwich University, West Malling October 9: M11 Corridor – Swallow Churchgate Hotel, Old Harlow November 5: Milton Keynes – Milton Keynes Civic Centre November 12: Ashford – Ashford International Hotel For information call Design for Homes on 020 8894 4142 or email events@designforhomes.org
