The government has published the consultation on plans for achieving the Future Homes Standard and Future Buildings Standard.
The consultation looks at a range of proposals, including new performance requirements and options to reduce running costs balanced against built costs, analysing the effectiveness of existing and new metrics, real world performance of homes, heat networks and guidance on fabric and fixed building services.
It also outlines options for transitional arrangements, and is seeking views on the newly introduced Part O on Overheating.
The government is to publish the new regulations and associated guidance in 2024, with the standards coming into force from 2025. The consultation applies to buildings in England only. The deadline for responses to the consultation is March 6 2024.
Commenting on the consultation, the Home Builders Federation said: "New build homes emit on average a third of the carbon of an older property, saving owners thousands of pounds in energy bills and the industry is committed to going further and meeting all the challenging environmental targets set.
