Fund manager issues property market warning

UK fund manager Alistair Ross Goobey said that investors should think twice before raising their exposure to the booming property investment market. Goobey, who recently stepped down as president of the Investment Property Forum after ten years, told its members: “Whether, in my own terms, the market is now ‘high’ is unclear. What is clear is that it is no longer low.” Goobey said companies that had sought to reduce their exposure to commercial property were now seeking to increase it by any means. “The debt driven market of the early part of this century has been replaced by a clamouring for product at almost any price.”
