Frazer allows final extension to H2B practical completion deadline

<p>Housing minister Lucy Frazer has extended the deadline for practical completions for Help to Buy transactions for the final time.</p> <p>Frazer has written to the Home Builders Federation’s executive chairman Stewart Baseley to confirm a six week extension to the practical completion deadline to March 17. This follows HBF alerting Homes England and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to some distressed home buyers whose properties were struggling to meet the original January 31 deadline. This involved a “very small number of plots”, HBF said.</p> <p>HBF also said the housing minister had made clear in her letter that there would be no further extensions to the practical completion deadline, as extending it any further would risk completions not achieving their legal completion by March 31.</p> <p>Frazer also reported that, according to Homes England, some of the schemes in question were affected by longstanding issues that were unlikely to be resolved in time for the final legal completion deadline.</p> <p>The housing minister wrote that those developers wishing to make use of the additional forbearance now confirmed, would need to <span>“</span>provide Homes England with details of the plots they require the forbearance for, the reasons for the delay as …
