<p>The government’s energy review highlighted the importance of energy efficient new homes and stated that measures will be put in place to “take us towards our long term ambition of making all new developments carbon neutral.” It added: “These measures will provide strong support for the use of on-site electricity generation, such as solar panels or mini wind turbines.”</p> <p>The review commended housebuilders for their improved record on efficiency. “New homes use around a quarter of the energy to heat and light compared with the average existing home,” it said. HBF executive chairman Stewart Baseley responded: “The biggest energy efficiency gains of all that we can make from housing are those relating to the existing stock.”</p><b> <p>NEXT KEY DATE: Ongoing</p></b>
