Energy efficiency “key consideration” for buyers – Zoopla

<p>Energy efficiency is a key consideration for new home buyers, according to Zoopla.</p> <p> <span>Revealing its Consumer Insights Survey which highlights what buyers want from housebuilders and estate agents in 2022, the real estate company said that almost </span><span>70% of new build respondents cited energy efficiency as an “extremely” or “very” important factor in their decision to purchase a new home. This was against 41% of resale participants in the survey.</span></p> <p><span>At the same time, Zoopla pointed out a “knowledge gap” regarding awareness of the potential cost savings of living in an energy efficient home. Zoopla said that a “highly-rated” EPC property would bring annual savings of 52% against an average resale home. But a third of survey respondents estimated savings of only 20% or less, while one in ten participants said they “didn’t know” what the savings might be.</span></p> <p><span>The survey also showed that semi-detached and detached houses were the most desirable types of property among buyers.
