Empty promises

<p>For a moment I was delighted and stunned when one of the first things our new and glorious leader announced was the “creation” of a series of new towns to deal with the housing crisis. Great, I thought. Gord’s actually listened to what he’s been told on an endless loop over the past ten years and here he is, finally doing something about it. It’ll be his “legacy.”</p> <p>Of course within a couple of nanoseconds, I thought if he’s been in power ten years as chancellor and hasn’t done anything about it yet, then how absurd it is for me to expect him to do anything about it now… All of which makes me wonder how incredible it is that the pervasive uselessness of NuLab still manages to cling on. Ten years of empty words should make us immune to not only hearing what this “government” says, but to listening to any of its nonsense as well. But no. </p> <p>We listen and we do so because the media insists on “reporting” the guff that NooLab continues to spout. Invariably, this is followed by columnists’ rantings declaring that (a) the policy will lead to the destruction of something or other …
