Emotionally draining

<b><b>Perhaps surprisingly there are several emotive issues around in the drainage sector - changes to the Building Regulations, the great pipe jetting debate and the drive for sustainable urban drainage. Andrew Leech reports</b></b><br><b>Similar to the ongoing tussle for market share between concrete and timber floors there is a clash of drainage Titans - concrete and clay pipes versus plastic pipes. And whilst each clamours to steal a march on the other, both are intrinsically wedded to meeting the challenges that lie ahead. </b><br><b><b>Part H </b></b><br> For instance, we have all discovered in recent months that the UK's sewer and drainage system is no match for exceptional rainfall, yet even worse precipitation is forecast in future years. Then there is the cost of maintaining the particularly aged parts of the existing system of which there are many, many thousands of kilometres beneath our roads and pavements, as well as keeping an eye on the new installations. And, of course, there is the potential aggravation that changes to Part H of the Building Regs has in store. <p></p><p>Amendments to Part H (drainage and waste water) were expected this summer but the likelihood is that this will not now happen until the end …
