DWH launches small homes range

David Wilson Homes has announced plans to tackle the affordable housing crisis with a new range of smaller homes to be launched this spring. DWH plans to build the i-Life range throughout the country and already has consent for 100 homes. Construction has begun on sites at Balderton, Nottingham and Wootton, Northamptonshire with several other sites in for planning approval. Chief executive Ian Robertson said: \"The acute shortage of smaller homes is generally recognised and demographic predictions point to a rise in single person households. \"We are all aware of issues facing first time buyers and if we don’t address this problem we will end up with young people remaining dependent upon their parents or rented accommodation.\" The i-Life range includes one-bedroom studio houses, two and three-bedroom mews houses and studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, ranging from 300-677sq ft. Selling prices are expected to start at around £65,000. James Wilson, DWH’s development director, said: \"We have been able to incorporate learnings from our Project:LIFE study [based on an experimental home in Sheffield] into the very smallest of the houses to create that all-crucial element in a home – the feeling of space and light.\"
