DLUHC to reveal Levelling Up White Paper

<p>The government is set to release the long-awaited Levelling Up White Paper today (February 2) which includes plans for housing.</p> <p>Under the white paper’s plans, which comprise 12 new national levelling up “missions”, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) will end the “80/20 rule” which sees <span>80% of government funding for housing supply being directed to “maximum affordability areas”, namely London and the south east. </span></p> <p><span>Instead, DLUHC said the majority of its previously announced £1.8 billion brownfield fund would go to “transforming brownfield sites” in the North and Midlands. The Metro Mayors will receive £120 million of the brownfield funding.</span></p> <p><span>Under a new £1.5 billion Levelling Up Home Building Fund, DLUHC said home ownership would be boosted. As <a href="https://www.house-builder.co.uk/news/dluhc-announces-areas-levelling-fund">previously announced</a>, this fund will offer loans to SME builders and “support the UK government’s wider regeneration agenda in areas that are a priority for levelling up”. </span></p> <p><span>There will also be a new Social Housing Regulation Bill to reflect a “further” commitment to building more “genuinely affordable” social housing.
